Lichfield Diamonds were made to work hard for the win as they came up against a Hednesford side brimming with effort, commitment and work rate.

Diamonds football was excellent throughout creating many chances that were only thwarted by some superb goal keeping.

Eventually the pressure told and Libby Queen opened the scoring. Half-hearted defending meant the lead was only held for 60 seconds.

The second half again saw Diamonds dominating possession and looking more comfortable at the back with defender Mae Murphy organising the players round her.

A point blank save from Elizabeth Palmer’s close range effort brought a short reprieve but eventually Diamonds’ pressure and patience got its reward as Queen restored the lead.
