Cllr Norma Bacon took the chains of office following the local elections in May.

In a Christmas message she revealed how 2015 had provided plenty of high points:

> “On behalf of the council, I would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
>
> “Lichfield District is a wonderful place to celebrate Christmas. With all the markets, events, carol services, the pantomime and shows, you can’t help but get into the festive spirit.
>
> “Looking back on 2015, it’s been a busy but hugely enjoyable year. I started in the role of chairman in May and since then I have represented the council at numerous events across Staffordshire and beyond.
>
> “Among the many highlights, I enjoyed hosting a tour of the National Memorial Arboretum for civic heads from across the region. It’s such an impressive venue and finding out more about the site’s exciting plans was very interesting.
>
> “Another event that stands out was the Armistice Day service at Cannock Chase AONB to remember and celebrate working dogs. This was such a simple but moving ceremony and I enjoyed meeting the many dogs who attended with their humans.
>
> “It has also been great to meet members of the many groups across the district who volunteer in a huge variety of roles that have such a positive impact on community life.
>
> “Thank you to everyone who has attended my charity events and given so generously, and I am looking forward to holding a number of events next year to raise more funds.
>
> “Finally, I hope that 2016 is a great year for everyone in the district. I wish you a very merry Christmas and lots of luck in keeping your New Year’s resolutions!”
