THE leader of Lichfield District Council says unauthorised development will not be tolerated.

It comes after a site at Woodhouses Lane saw groundworks taking place and buildings arrive over the bank holiday weekend.

Officials from the local authority have already visited the land after [concerns were raised by local residents](https://lichfieldlive.co.uk/council-officers-visit-site-after-residents-raise-concerns-over-development-on-land/).

Cllr Doug Pullen, leader of Lichfield District Council, confirmed that planning permission was not in place for work at the site.

He said:

> “I am aware of the works currently taking place at Woodhouses and have been speaking with ward councillors and council officers over the Easter weekend.
>
> “Starting development activity over a bank holiday is unfortunately a well-known tactic, but that does not change the rules – and it does not change our response.
>
> “An application has been submitted, but it is invalid. As a result, no planning permission is in place and we are already progressing enforcement action.
>
> “We will not tolerate unauthorised development – and we will act where necessary to protect our planning system and our communities.”
