LICHFIELD’S Finlay Lines produced a standout performance to secure a top ten finish in the third round of the IAME Euroseries.

He was among 50 karting aces battling it out in the penultimate event of the Junior X30 class season – and the Argenti Academy driver put his knowledge of the Wackersdorf circuit to good use as he qualified fifth quickest in his group and tenth overall.

All three heats took place on the same day, with Lines starting sixth in the first race before working his way up the order on track.

The city youngster pushed the leader all the way to the line to secure a fine second place finish.

The second heat again saw Lines on the move as he climbed from fifth to the front – but had to settle for fourth after a last-lap push by the chasing pack.

Race three was more of the same as the youngster rallied from ninth to fourth.

The results meant he went into the following day in good shape with a second place in the classification under his belt.

The superheats would decide who would make it through to the final – and Lines made a bright start from third to climb up a spot and put pressure on fellow Brit Riley Cranham in a battle for the lead.

His efforts paid off on lap six as he found a way past and then built up an advantage to secure his first superheat win of the season by just under a second.

The final allowed him to secure a strong top ten finish and catapult himself up the standings, meaning he heads into the final event in Belgium at the end of August in seventh overall.
