Shoppers in Lichfield are being urged to add an extra item or two to their trollies to support the city’s foodbank.

An appeal has gone out for more tinned items to help the charity support families in need.

The appeal comes as the Trussell Trust [revealed that it had distributed record numbers of “emergency” supplies](http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-43866980?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) via foodbanks during the last year.
