The Lichfield Garrick’s new afternoon classical concert series kicks off today.

The Mozart Clarinet Quintet and the Crusell Quartet will be the first performance at 3pm today (April 23).

Researcher and musician Jane Booth joins Ensemble DeNote to perform Mozart’s acclaimed Clarinet Quintet playing a basset clarinet similar to the instrument used in the first performance in 1789, followed by work from clarinet virtuoso Crusell.

Executive director of the Lichfield Garrick, Karen Foster, who previously worked touring internationally with professional orchestras said: “I have known Jane Booth’s playing for many years and I know that this will be a superb concert.

“Jane’s mellifluous tone, musicality, and in depth knowledge of the style and techniques of this period will bring a historically accurate and fresh feel to this timeless music.”
