THE Lichfield Garrick has launched its new season of shows with the promise of "something for everyone".

The city theatre will host a range of events, from pantomime Robin Hood, to the annual Erasmus Darwin Memorial Lecture.

Music lovers will be able to enjoy the likes of Showaddywaddy, The History of Rock, The Bon Jovi Experience and The Legends of American Country, while a hint of comedy will be served up by Fascinating Aida.

Following the success of its first in-house-produced musical, Disenchanted, the Garrick once again takes centre stage with its own production of The Hired Man. Written by acclaimed author Melvyn Bragg with music by composer Howard Goodall, the tale of family, friendship, sacrifice and hope is brought to life through a folk-inspired score.

Amateur theatre will take to the stage with the Lichfield Musical Youth Theatre's production of Hadestown, Walsall Operatic Society’s Made in Dagenham and Brownhills Musical Theatre Company's Shrek the Musical.

There will be plenty of drama too courtesy of The Production Garden's version of Michael Morpurgo's Private Peaceful, while Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap makes its long-awaited return to the Garrick as well.

The laughter will be provided by Josh Pugh, Seann Walsh and Dom Joly.

Shoddy Theatre Company make a welcome return to the Garrick with A Shoddy Nativity over the festive period.

Young theatre-goers will have shows such as Ice Age Adventure Live, The Amazing Bubble Man and The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show to enjoy.

For fans of dance, Giovanni Pernice will make his Lichfield debut with his Unstoppable tour, while The Nutcracker, traditional Indian dance drama Kathakali and Strictly star Kai Widdrington will be on the bill, along with Jasmin Vardimon Company’s Lullaby.

More than 20 years ago, multi award-winning choreographer Jasmin Vardimon MBE took the theatre world by storm, earning widespread critical acclaim with the original production, which was co-commissioned by the Garrick.

Jasmin said:

> "It’s a touching full-circle moment to bring our brand-new production, Lullaby, to the Lichfield Garrick.
>
> "The theatre was a co-commissioner of my pivotal work in 2003, which helped establish both the company and my choreography within the UK.
>
> "To return with Lullaby feels incredibly special and marks another meaningful chapter in our ever-growing history."
