A Lichfield area golf society raised over £1,000 towards the new in-patient unit at St Giles Hospice in Whittington.

The Shenstone and Lichfield Artisans Golf Society (SLAGS) is based in the Fox and Hounds in Shenstone and now has over 40 members. The society meets every month and also has an annual trip to Spain.

A cheque for £1,145 was presented to St Giles Hospice’s Laura Pennycuick by society chairman Geoff Newton, president Stan Rowlands and treasurer John Callaghan.

A spokesperson for the society said:

> “We are delighted to be able to present the Hospice with this money. Our society tries to support local causes and this is a thoroughly deserving and worthwhile local charity.”

Enthusiastic golfers who want more information about joining the SLAGS should contact Kenny Connor on 07810 556095.
