Michael Fabricant’s comments come as the future of Friary Grange Leisure Centre continues to hang in the balance.

Lichfield District Council will make a decision in October after delaying a previous plan to shut the facility from April 2020.

[Thousands have signed a petition](https://www.change.org/p/lichfield-district-council-save-the-friary-grange-leisure-centre-in-lichfield?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) to save the centre, with [the Bishop of Lichfield also insisting it is “the wrong decision”](//lichfieldlive.co.uk/2019/08/09/leisure-centre-closure-is-wrong-decision-says-bishop-of-lichfield/) to shut Friary Grange.

Mr Fabricant told followers on Twitter that he had made his feelings clear to Cllr Doug Pullen, the leader of Lichfield District Council.

The Conservative MP has [previously called for an end to “bad blood”](//lichfieldlive.co.uk/2019/07/18/mp-hopeful-new-district-council-leadership-can-end-bad-blood-and-secure-future-of-lichfields-last-publicly-owned-swimming-pool/) between the various parties involved in the discussions over the future of the leisure centre.
