# Lichfield MP’s ‘better understanding’ of speed limits after awareness course

Lichfield’s MP has admitted he now has a “better understanding of UK speed limits” after he was caught speeding.

Michael Fabricant made his comments following a speed awareness course he went on after being caught doing 35mph in a 30mph zone.

He [told his Twitter followers](https://twitter.com/Mike%5FFabricant/status/290159457034440704?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) how he was clocked 5mph over the limit while on official business in Cardiff.

But the MP admitted that [he and other “naughty boys”](https://twitter.com/Mike%5FFabricant/status/290079286084390912?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) had found the course beneficial.

He tweeted: “In a momentary blink of an eye, I committed a crime and drove 5mph over the speed limit. Swift is my retribution.

“\[The\] speed awareness course was good. Better understanding now of UK speed limits and signs, recognising road dangers and inter-car distances.

“Quite a nice ‘class’ of person attending the speed awareness course – all ages, but intelligent and lively.”
