Joanne Forker and Alexandra Mackenzie are hoping to corner the gap in the artisan gin market with their new business [Ice and a Slice](http://www.iceandaslice.co.uk/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk).

After carrying out research at distilleries across the country, the pair have started their new company, based at Elmhurst Business Park, selling a range of bottle sizes.

Former HR advisor Alexandra, from Yoxall, said: “Ice and a Slice is very much a bespoke business and one which we firmly believe fills a current niche in a developing market as interest in artisan gin continues to soar.

“Although you can buy some artisan gins in selected supermarkets, they are in very limited supply and don’t make the most of the range of different botanical-based artisan gins which are now available from small distilleries.

“We have focused on gins that are less known but are distilled in the UK.”

The business is one of just a handful operating in Europe dedicated to artisan gin.

The two mums decided to launch their venture following a career break to have their young children.

Partner Joanne, a part-time business improvement facilitator from Kings Bromley, added: “We thoroughly believe that we have created something that’s special.

“We have enjoyed the months spent planning and developing our business – which included lots of sampling to ensure we offer only the best artisan gins – and we’re very proud of what we’ve created as a result.”
