Orange peel fungus

Fungus will be in focus at an event in Lichfield.

Christian Fields Local Nature Reserve will play host to a walk and talk by Lichfield District Council’s countryside team and the Staffordshire Fungus Group from 10.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday (September 10).

Visitors will get the chance to forage for fungi and discover more about them, such as which ones are deadly or delicious.

Justine Lloyd, Lichfield District Council’s countryside officer, said:

> “This is the perfect time of year to see a wide variety of fungi. We’ve spotted some fascinating specimens in the past at Christian Fields, so join us, and Neville Walters from Staffordshire Fungus Group, for an interesting foray. Please wear sturdy shoes or boots and bring a waterproof – just in case.”

The Fungus Foray event will set off from Christian Fields top car park (off Eastern Avenue – next to Lichfield Cricket and Hockey Club). It costs £2.50 and includes tea, coffee and biscuits.
