# Lichfield restaurant launches alfresco menu to celebrate opening of new outdoor area

A Lichfield restaurant has marked the opening of a new outdoor dining and drinks area with the launch of a new alfresco menu.

The Boat Inn has renovated a garden area where people can enjoy food and drink without a reservation.

The two-acre outdoor space includes fields, a greenhouse that produces vegetables and herbs, and a chicken coop for eggs used by restaurant’s chefs.

Owner Liam Dillon said:

> “With the better weather and warmer evenings upon us, this space is perfect not just for casual dining but also drinks.

> “When the Covid lockdowns hit we came up with the idea of enhancing our offer by using our outdoor space.

> “We have a huge garden behind the restaurant and so it was the obvious area to develop and to offer our customers a different experience.

> “And it’s a working garden. We grow a lot of our produce in the greenhouses which guests are welcome to view.

> “It’s got the relaxed feel of a pub beer garden with a special menu and I and the team are looking forward to serving people.”
