It is an extremely busy junction and, with ever increasing volumes of traffic on the roads, the fear of further accidents is a concern that we are determined to address. It is really positive news that the start date for this major project is now in sight.” Staffordshire Highways has put the contract out to tender and a start date will be announced when the decision has been made. The project is expected to take around seven months to complete. The work is also designed to protect the wildlife habitat that surrounds the existing junction. It is classified as a grade one Site of Biological Interest. County Councillor Terry Finn added: > “The team has had to deal with some very difficult and time consuming issues in order to get this first class scheme off the ground. Environmental considerations have played a major role in the design to ensure that there are no detrimental effects on people living nearby the crossroads and that the woodland opposite is protected.”
