# Lichfield Round Table chairman completes charity walk challenge

THE chairman of Lichfield Round Table has completed a 200-mile walk to raise money for charity.

Daniel White journeyed from Billericay to Barry, raising more than £8,500 for suicide prevention charity the Campaign Against Living Miserably. His challenge saw him walk for seven days with support along the way from other Round Table members.

Daniel said:

> "This was never really about proving I could walk 200 miles.

> "There were times when I was properly hurting. My feet were covered in blisters, my legs were battered and there were moments when my body was telling me to stop.  
>  
> "That pain will heal, but the pain experienced by families and friends who lose someone to suicide doesn't just disappear.  
>  
> "If somebody has seen this journey and it's made them check on a mate, start a conversation or reach out for help themselves, then every single painful mile was worth it."

Daniel has previously spoken openly about a period in his own life when he came close to suicide and about the difference that friendship, purpose and belonging subsequently made – and the Round Table became a major part of that journey. Daniel first joined Barry Round Table before later moving to the West Midlands, where he is now chairman of Lichfield Round Table as well as Area 35 chairman. That made the final destination particularly poignant for him. Daniel said the support he received along the way had been a source of inspiration.

> "There were some very lonely miles, but I never felt like I was doing this alone.

> "People donated, shared the fundraiser, sent messages, called me, walked alongside me, brought me food and simply told me to keep going.

> "Those messages genuinely picked me up when I was struggling."
