But despite the final scoreline, Malvern had the better of the opening exchanges. However, a taste of what was to come came when Paul Maxwell-Keys finished a powerful move down the blind side. Josh Massey converted and the scoreboard was rolling.

A three minute blitz saw the Lichfield backs scythe through the defensive line, Maxwell-Keys being at the forefront of all things good. Luke and Josh Massey both crossed, and Maxwell-Keys had his second, securing a bonus point with only 12 minutes played.

This formidable display showed no sign of letting up, as the Greens repelled Malvern’s short lived attacks and went on the offensive with width and intensity.

Cal Turner finished off a neat blind side play, followed by Dan Rowlands showing power as he brushed aside defenders to find his way to the line. With only 25 minutes played, Lichfield had raced to a 38-0 lead.

The tight defence was forcing Malvern to kick the ball away and the ever dangerous Greg Massey found his way onto the scoreboard twice in two minutes as he outpaced the defenders to score.

Maxwell-Keys finished the half with an excellent individual try that showed pace, power and excellent balance. Josh Massey was well on target throughout the half, and the Greens left the field at half time leading 59-0.

The second half was only two minutes old when any hopes Malvern had of being shown mercy were dispelled as Greg Massey secured his hat-trick. Luke Massey took over kicking duties at the turnaround and was on target from the start.

Ten minutes was the longest period that Lichfield went without troubling the scorers. But while the attack will steal the headlines, the defence was also strong with aggressive and organised intent.

The tries couldn’t be halted and they came thick and fast through Jonny Evans, Tom Penzer Adams, Richard Burton and debutant Will Wedgewood.

Maxwell-Keys and Greg Massey scored one more try a piece, with Stephen Gabbitass finishing proceedings with a 50 metre sprint in to score his first try of the season.

This was a record achievement for the club, but also marked their first shut out of the season. With 12 games played and 12 bonus points secured, Lichfield have two more league games before the Christmas break, sitting top of the league, 12 points ahead of second place Burton.

**Lichfield:** Taylor, Gabbitass, Bassett (c), Thompson, Southern, Burton, Turner, Prior; Evans, L Massey, J Massey, Maxwell-Keys, Adams, D Rowlands, G Massey. Subs: Clarke, Taplin and Wedgwood.
