LICHFIELD'S women opened their season with the proverbial game of two halves at home against Cheltenham.

The visitors proved their title credentials as they racked up a comfortable 19-point lead in the first half.

Lichfield, with another new look to their team, naturally needed time to settle down, especially given their lack of pre-season game time.

But the second period was a different story as the Myrtle Greens dug deep to try and find a way back into the game.

Summer Hartshon, who started the game on the bench, was fully involved in the improvement and was able to add three tries to the cause to earn her side a valuable bonus point.

Molly Draycott was only able to convert one try, so Lichfield came up two points short, but heartened by an encouraging start with more players to come back into the fold.
