# Lichfield school appeals for businesses to donate prizes for fundraising raffle

A Lichfield school is appealing to local businesses for prizes to be given away in a fundraising raffle.

Maple Hayes Dyslexia School will be holding its annual Parents’ Open Day on June 29 where awards are handed out to pupils who have excelled throughout the year.

Last year’s ceremony saw 45 honours given to students by Nick Holzherr, finalist on BBC One’s The Apprentice, and a similar amount are expected to be awarded this year by BBC Midlands Today correspondent Satnam Rana.

The day culminates with a grand raffle where prizes donated by local companies are up for grabs to the lucky winners. All proceeds raised from ticket sales go to the Foundation for the Education of the Underachieving and Dyslexic (FEUD), a charity founded by school principal Dr Neville Brown.

Dr Daryl Brown, headmaster at Maple Hayes, said: “It is a real pleasure to reward students for their fantastic achievements in front of their friends and family, even if it may embarrass a few of the children.

“However, the occasion is also a brilliant opportunity to raise money for an extremely worthwhile charity like FEUD.

“We would be very grateful to receive prizes from local businesses that will hopefully entice more parents to buy more tickets and ultimately raise more funds.”
