# Lichfield student reaches final of national poetry contest

Helen Denning, a sixth form student at [Lichfield Cathedral School](http://lichfieldcathedralschool.co.uk/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk), had already won the heats of the Poetry by Heart contest before taking on the best from across the county at a regional final in Stoke-on-Trent.

The competition sees pupils learn and recite three poems – and Helen’s word-perfect recitals of Remembrance, My Father in a White Spacesuit and The Stretcher-Bearer saw her named Staffordshire champion.

She will now join finalists from across the country at the national final in London next month.
