# Lichfield students get the chance to meet foootball star Didier Drogba

Lichfield students have met two top European footballers.

The Nether Stowe students with Didier Drogba

The Nether Stowe School youngsters were visiting the National Football Centre at St George’s Park when they got the chance to meet ex-Chelsea striker Didier Drogba and former Arsenal man Emmanuel Eboue.

The pupils were visiting the site as part of the Staffordshire Challenge, which sees them carry out a range of tasks in order to gain a qualification in personal learning and thinking skills.

The students planted a number of spring flowers and saplings to enhance the landscaped area alongside the cycle path by their school as part of Lichfield District Council’s entry in the Heart of England in Bloom competition. They also identified litter and dog mess as problem areas within their local community and tried to raise awareness of these problems by making leaflets and posters for display in local shops.

Ten schools who took part gathered for the presentation of their certificates, before getting the chance to meet the footballing duo, who were visiting St George’s Park as part of their pre-season training with Turkish club Galatasaray.
