# Lichfield tennis club to host free open day

Calling wannabe Andy Murrays and Caroline Wozniakis – Lichfield Friary Lawn Tennis Club is launching its 2011 season with a series of free events and is inviting people to visit the city tennis club. 

The first free Open Day will be held on March 20 from 2pm to 4pm at the Tamworth Road club, featuring coaching, tennis demonstrations and the opportunity to have a go if you haven’t played before. 

Club chairman Achim Kreuser said:

> “We hope 2011 will be another bumper and successful year. Last year we increased our membership and saw our teams and players achieve great success in tournaments and leagues. We hope to build on this with new membership blood and have developed a comprehensive calendar of social events as well as many opportunities to play tennis at all levels, supported by a broad coaching scheme.”

The club has some of the best facilities in the area with six artificial grass floodlit courts, free parking and a large clubhouse. Plus in time for the new season, the floodlights have just been changed and upgraded.

There are 14 mens, womens and mixed competitive teams and players of all standards are always welcome to join in. 

Other Open Days will take place on April 10 and June 26 from 2pm to 4pm.
