LICHFIELD’S Finlay Lines delivered a composed and determined performance to claim an overall podium finish after two days of racing in the opening round of the BNL Championship.

The city youngster laid down a strong qualifying effort to finish third, despite running in turbulent air for much of the session.

He was able to carry his pace into the heats as he claimed victory in one race and third in another to secure pole in the final.

Lines looked in control from the outset, but contact from behind mid-race saw him drop back to sixth – but the karting ace fought back to finish fourth.

The second day brought fresh challenges for the drivers as fog swept in at the Ostricourt venue in France.

But Lines adapted quickly, claiming fifth in his group and tenth overall, before moving from seventh to second in both heats to secure a second place spot on the grid.

The Lichfield racer delivered a measured drive in the final to secure second place going into his next encounter in Mariembourg.
