# Man who assaulted ex-partner in Burntwood is jailed

A MAN who assaulted his ex-partner and drove off in her car in Burntwood has been jailed.

Sam Newbrook, 25 and of Newcastle-under-Lyme, turned up at a pub that she was at in September last year and struck her to the head with his palm.

When the his ex-partner left and went to another address, he followed her and she started to drive him home.

But she then had to pull over on Sycamore Road because Newbrook was getting irate in the car. They both got out and he then pulled her to the ground, grabbed her keys and drove off.

Newbrook was charged with robbery, assault by beating, harassment without violence, taking a motor vehicle without the owner's consent and driving a motor vehicle while disqualified.

He admitted all of the offences at an earlier hearing and was jailed for four-years-and-two-months.

Detective Constable Elliott Domeney, from Staffordshire Police, said:

> "Newbrook’s actions on this day were utterly deplorable and I’m pleased we were able to build all of the evidence needed to secure this outcome for the survivor."
