# Match report: Handsworth RUFC 2nds 19 Burntwood RUFC 2nds 31

Burntwood RUFC 2nds fielded four Under 17’s and two Colts in what was a very young squad that took the field away to Handsworth 2nds.

The fixture was an even contest throughout, however the visitors used the ball out wide better than their opponents.

Early tries from wingers Nick Peplow and Lewis Aston, the latter made and converted by Brett Taylor, gave the visitors an early 0-12 lead. But it was short-lived as Handsworth eventually crossed the Burntwood line after dogged defence had kept them at bay in what was a good ten minute spell for the home side.

Then just before the break, Burntwood’s points advantage increased further as Peplow grabbed his second try. Getting the ball wide seemed to be the obvious plan instead of trying to arm wrestle with the big Handsworth pack.

The second half saw the hosts have the lion’s share of the possession. For the first 25 minutes of this period they scored two well deserved tries, one of which was converted and gave them a two point advantage.

This game was set up for a thrilling climax. Burntwood made wholesale changes, shuffling their pack around and this appeared to pay dividends as two quick tries by Peplow, who completed a fantastic hat-trick, and Hal Gozukucuk effectively secured Burntwood their victory. Anthony Morgan converted both tries to complete the afternoon’s scoring.
