# Match report: Lichfield City FC Reserves 3 Chelmsley Town 1

Lichfield CityFC’s second string got their first win of an encouraging pre-season campaign with a convincing 3-1 victory over Midland Combination Division Two side Chelmsley Town.

A bright start from a young City side containing four youth team players saw Lichfield take the game to their higher league opponents, creating a couple of decent chances that saw Josh Leaver failing to convert.

City fell behind just before the break when some sloppy defending allowed striker Payne to ghost in at the back post to put Lichfield behind against the run of play, leaving the hosts to go in at the break a goal down.

A host of changes at half time saw City race out of the blocks and get back on level terms, Gavin Allers netting with his first touch 30 seconds after the restart.

The goal gave Lichfield the confidence to play some lovely controlled football with 16-year-old debutant Fabian looking beyond his tender years with his assured passing game.

City took the lead on 70 minutes after a fine strike by Danny Thurstance that fizzed into the top corner following good work by Fabian.

The visitors were now struggling to make an impact on the game with young centre half Jordan looking assured along side the excellent Tom Gibson.

City put the result beyond doubt when James Lawson cooly slotted at the second attempt after a fine ball from Olly Budd to make it 3-1 and complete the scoring.
