# Match report: Lichfield City FC Reserves 3 Knowle Reserves 1

Lichfield City FC’s second string extended their unbeaten start to the season to eight games after a fine victory over Knowle, going top of the table in the process.

City raced out of the blocks going a goal up in the opening minute, a fine run and cross by Olly Budd resulting in a deft glancing header by striker Chris Ashley that found the bottom corner.

This gave the hosts the plaftorm to play some great attacking football and they were soon rewarded with a second goal, Budd once again the architect. After some fine one-touch football involving five players, Budd placed a lovely through ball into the path of Jason Hewitt who never broke his stride to volley past the stranded keeper.

Any thoughts of this opening the floodgates were quashed as Knowle battled back gamely to stay in the match, with City also guity of taking their foot off the pedal.

Knowle’s game response was rewarded when a free header allowed the visitors back in the match, Lichfield going into the break with a 2-1 lead.

The second half, with the strong wind at their backs, City dominated with chance after chance going begging, Ashley Bennett the chief culprit on his reapperance after a long suspension.

Lichfield finally killed the game off when substitute Dan Billings nodded in the home side’s third with his first touch.
