Chasetown FC will need to fight for every ball if they are to secure promotion in their play-off final, according to midfielder Dave Egan.

The Scholars face Glapwell in the one-off tie to decide who will go up.

Having seen off the challenge of Sheffield FC in a [thrilling five-goal encounter](//lichfieldlive.co.uk/2010/04/28/chasetown-fc-3-sheffield-fc-2/) in midweek, Egan is hoping Charlie Blakemore’s men can complete the job.

He said:

> “I am confident for the game tomorrow. I think Tuesday night will have got the nerves out of our system and hopefully we can go out and play some nice football and really enjoy it.
>
> “But we have to make sure we don’t let the occasion get to us. We are the form team everyone wanted to avoid and I think that could work in our favour, as long as we do the same things that have got us in this position to start with – like running our socks off and fighting for every ball. If we do that then our class should come through.”

Egan has enjoyed something of a renaissance at the Scholars Ground this season. He had taken a break from the game before returning to the club to build up his fitness.

By [his own admission](//lichfieldlive.co.uk/2009/11/03/shocked-chasetown-fc-skipper-keen-to-fire-club-up-the-table/), he didn’t expect to get much of a look-in, but has found himself thrust into a promotion charge at Chasetown.

And now he wants to end the season in fitting style. He explaned:

> “I feel absolutely great and it’s why I love football so much. Hopefully winning promotion will top things off for me. The ast full season I had we won promotion on the last game, but this would definitely top that.
>
> “Never did I think that I’d end up playing 50 games this season. But Charlie has shown a lot of faith in me and I think it’s certainly paid off, especially in this final push for promotion.”

But despite making a strong return to Chasetown this term, Egan believes there is even more to come from him. He said:

> “I really think next season that with a full pre season training behind me and plenty of friendlies I will be able to improve.”

Chasetown’s crunch clash with Glapwell tomorrow (May 1) kicks off at 3pm at the Scholars Ground. Entry is £7 adults and £3 concessions.
