A Lichfield schoolgirl has continued her success after being named regional Irish dancing champion for the fourth time in a row.

Heidi Hawkes retained her title at the Midlands Oireachtas in Birmingham over the weekend.

She took the win with a clean sweep of 100 scores from five adjudicators.

The King Edward VI School pupil also added team success to her individual triumph as a member of the Birmingham-based Kidd School’s ceili team.

> “After missing out on lots of competitions during lockdown, it’s been great to get back out dancing with my friends and competing around the country again.

> “There are some great dancers I get to compete with so it’s brilliant to manage to win the Midlands title for a fourth time.

Heidi will now go on to compete at the World Championships in in Belfast next year.
