# Troubled Lichfield bus route faces further problems as A2Z Travel buses face axe

The troubled Lichfield to Walsall 991 bus service could be dealt a new blow as the operator of the route may be forced to take their vehicles off the road.

[A2Z Travel](http://www.a2z-travel.co.uk/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk), which is the latest firm to run the service after [Travel WM](http://www.travelwm.co.uk/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) (now National Express West Midlands) had previously pulled out of the route.

But now a [report in the Express & Star](http://www.expressandstar.com/2009/03/25/under-threat-bus-firm-may-be-axed/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) has claimed the firm’s fleet of buses could be off the road by March 31 unless the company can get permission ahead of a battle in the Court of Appeal.

A2Z Travel’s licence was revoked after faults were found in the company’s vehicles. The Walsall-based business had intended to keep their buses on the road until an appeal was heard, but that plan has been rejected by a Transport Tribunal.

Quite what the news will mean for the company’s various routes across the Midlands and the troubled 991 service is unclear, but hopefully a solution will be found so that passengers don’t suffer.
