A mother and daughter have been taken to hospital after the vehicle they were in was sandwiched between a car and a lorry on the M6 Toll road near Lichfield.

The crash happened on the northbound carriageway about a mile north of junction T5 at Shenstone shortly after 1am this morning (October 13).

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said:

> “When crews arrived they found two cars and a lorry had been involved in the crash. There was a considerable amount of debris on the roadway.
>
> “The driver of one car told crews that he had swerved to avoid a deer but collided with a second car which then collided with the lorry.
>
> “The driver of the first car, a man, was uninjured. The man driving the lorry was also uninjured. The mother and daughter in the second car, a Mercedes were both injured. Ambulance staff started treating them while firefighters removed the roof and doors.”

The 51-year-old-woman had a badly fractured lower leg and chest pain. Her 14-year-old daughter had a head injury.

The spokesman added:

> “They were both immobilised using neck collars and spinal boards before being taken to Good Hope Hospital.”
