# MP hails Lichfield employment event as a ‘great success’

An employment event in Lichfield has been hailed as a “great success” by the city’s MP.

Michael Fabricant visited the Get Britain Working Event at the Guildhall to see the advice on offer for local residents.

He said: “I was really pleased to visit and and be told by the regional Department of Work and Pensions officials that I am the first MP to have attended such an event. Mind you, some suggested unkindly that I was there to check out opportunities following the next general election!

“The event was by all accounts a great success.”

Recruitment stands from the likes of Debenhams, Miller Construction, the Bromford Group, St Giles Hospice, the Army, and Mediline were at the event as well as well as advice from organisations such as the National Careers Service, South Staffordshire College and the Lichfield District Volunteers Service.
