# Nashville musician set to perform at concert near Lichfield

Nashville singer-songwriter Rod Picott is set for a performance near Lichfield.

His concert at Elford Village Hall is part of a UK promotional tour for his new album Welding Burns.

A spokesperson said: “Welding Burns is an album about scars of the skin and scars of the heart.

Rod Picott is the songs he sings. Since before Woody Guthrie, songwriters have soaked their public image in sepia tones singing about the working life, but Picott bears the scars of actually living that blue collar life.

“His songs are inhabited by sheetrock hangers, drinkers, circus hands, boxers and working girls and he sings about his characters with intimacy.”

The son of a welder and former Marine, Picott grew up in the small mill town of South Berwick, Maine.

He made his living as a sheetrock worker from high school until he released his first CD, Tiger Tom Dixon’s Blues, in 2001\. He has become a fixture on the live music scene, playing more than 120 shows every year.
