A NEW book in a series connected to the National Remembrance Gardens has been published.

Arbie and the Owl Tree has been written by Maria Howes and illustrated by local artist Leah Riley.

It follows the character as he explores the trees, wildlife and seasonal colours found across the Alrewas venue, which was previously known as the National Memorial Arboretum.

The National Forest has sponsored publication of the book and will be sending a copy to every primary school located within its area.

Maria said:

> "We had an incredible response to the first Arbie book and I’m really hoping that this next adventure will be enjoyed by many.
>
> "Arbie and the Owl Tree really focuses on capturing the sense of wonder enjoyed by young people as they explore the natural environment, and as well as a wonderful partnership with the National Forest Company, funds raised through sale of the book will continue to support our work sharing the inspirational stories reflected within our living landscape."

Throughout half term, the National Remembrance Gardens will be hosting a programme of family-friendly activities connected with the book, including themed trails, interactive storytelling sessions and creative crafts.

Rachel Smith, head of learning and participation at the National Remembrance Gardens, said:

> "Arbie has become a familiar companion for many of our younger visitors – and this October half-term they can join him on a brand-new adventure.
>
> "Storytelling, trails and creative activities bring Arbie’s story to life, while creating opportunities for children to explore the natural world with curiosity."
