The new astro-turf at Chasetown Specialist Sports College

A new astro-turf sports pitch has opened in Burntwood.

The facility at Chasetown Specialist Sports College will host a primary school football tournament organised by Aston Villa before having its ribbon officially cut by England hockey player Suzie Gilbert on November 12.

The all-weather pitch is a full size, sand-filled hockey pitch that also has markings for football and floodlights.

The facility is being made available for community use outside of school hours and a number of local clubs have already begun booking the astro-turf.

Headteacher Bernice Astling said:

> “We are delighted with our new all-weather pitch which is a fantastic addition to our sport facilities. I know that the students will really enjoy using the pitch during school hours.
