A proposed McDonald’s restaurant in Burntwood will boost the local economy, according to a new report.

The fast-food chain hopes to open in the town on land previously occupied by Tesco and Kwik Save.

However, [a number of residents have raised concerns](//lichfieldlive.co.uk/2015/05/28/residents-concerned-by-plan-for-new-mcdonalds-in-burntwood/) over anti-social behaviour if the new restaurant is given the go-ahead by Lichfield District Council.

But a report to a meeting of the local authority’s planning committee on Monday (June 22) has played down fears and said a new McDonald’s could be a boost for the town.

“It is considered that the development will assist in job creation and contribute to the economy of Burntwood,” a council officer’s report said.

“It is my view that it will contribute towards the enhancement of this part of Chase Terrace and the wider Burntwood environment.”
