# New Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire officially begins role

THE new Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire has officially begun her role.

Professor Liz Barnes CBE replaced Sir Ian Dudson KCVO CBE who served for 13 years as the King’s representative for the county.

The role includes overseeing Royal visits, honours investitures and the presentation of awards.

Prof Barnes had previoulsy been Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive of the University of Staffordshire.

She said:

> “It’s a real honour to represent our King in the county of Staffordshire where I was born and raised.

> “Our county is made up of urban and rural areas. King Charles is a keen supporter of rural and farming communities, he has supported thousands of young people through the Prince’s Trust and he is committed to building sustainable communities.

> “This county is made up of diverse and active communities doing so much good work and I know that together we can continue to transform lives.”
