# New sponsor signs up for Lichfield Literature Festival

A new sponsor has signed up to support the Lichfield Literature Festival.

Developers Miller will back the marquee venue set to be erected on the site of the former Franciscan Friary for the event from October 2.

The festival – which takes place from September 29 to October 7 – will feature a range of authors, with the likes of comedians Jenny Eclair and Alexei Sayle, Only Fools and Horses actor John Challis and broadcaster Jenni Bond set to appear at the new temporary venue.

Festival director Fiona Stuart said: “We are thrilled to have teamed up with Miller to enable more people to see these terrific events.

“Lichfield really has embraced the Literature Festival and this is a natural step forward. The monks who lived in the old Friary would have been at the forefront of literary development in their day, so it feels especially appropriate to be taking the best that the modern day book world has to offer back to the site.”
