A TRAIN operator says thousands of extra seats will be on offer for people travelling from Lichfield to London when a new timetable kicks in this weekend.

London Northwestern Railway (LNR) is introducing new longer trains from Sunday (14th December).

The new fleet – known as Class 730/2s – can carry significantly more passengers and will represent a 20% increase in capacity.

Jonny Wiseman, LNR customer experience director, said:

> “The extra capacity we are introducing on the Trent Valley line from this weekend will make a real difference to the millions of customers who use the route every year.

> “These trains are the cornerstone of our £1billion investment into the railway. As well as extra seats, the new trains offer modern features including smart air conditioning, open gangways and charging points at every seat.

> “I am certain they will continue proving popular with our passengers.”
