A newly-elected MP says it was “an honour” to be officially sworn in.

Labour’s Sarah Edwards claimed victory in the by-election for the Tamworth constituency – which include areas such as Fazeley, Stonnall and Shenstone – last week.

She officially took up her seat in the House of Commons this week.

She said:

> “It was an honour to take my oath of allegiance to the Crown and be sworn in as a Member of Parliament.

The new MP replaced Christopher Pincher who resigned after being suspended for groping two men in a London club.
