Lichfield and Burntwood residents will have to travel further afield to collect swine flu anti-viral medication – a decision which has angered local MP Michael Fabricant.

The news came to light after a letter was sent to Mr Fabricant by Secretary of State for Health Andy Burnham.

His letter highlights the confidential locations for anti-viral collection points for treatment of swine flu – but neither Lichfield nor Burntwood are listed.

The news has angered the Lichfield MP. Mr Fabricant said:

> “My constituents will have to travel to Tamworth, Stafford, Rugeley, or Burton to collect Tamiflu or other anti-virals to combat swine flu. This is a serious omission. I shall be asking the South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust to provide collection points (ACPs) in both Lichfield and Burntwood.

> “Existing locations include supermarkets, chemists, and other major stores. There is no excuse for omitting Lichfield and Burntwood which are major population centres.”
