# Nuneaton’s cutting edge proves too sharp for Lichfield RUFC

Lichfield RUFC were on the receiving end of a 54-0 defeat after making the trip to Nuneaton.

After a bright opening passage of play, the Greens were close to going over in the corner and getting the perfect start, but a handling error turned the ball over and allowed the hosts to clear their lines through the impressive boot of their number 10 Lee Chapman. This was to become a theme for the evening.

Nuneaton went on to score five tries in the first half, converting four of them including a drop kick from wide out when the ball had blown off the tee.

The home scores included some stunning length of the pitch efforts, in particular one from right wing Boshi, who ran from 70 metres out and went around the Lichfield winger before chipping in behind and then outpacing the cover to regather and dive over.

The Greens never let their heads drop and enjoyed the majority of possession in the second half and ran every penalty opportunity they had. However, a combination of good cover defence by Nuneaton and some poor handling in the final third by the visitors meant they did not manage to get a score.

Nuneaton secured three more scores – all converted – showing the clinical edge Lichfield had been missing.

Lichfield will now look to regroup before the final game of the season where they return to Cooke Fields and host Old Halesonians with a 3pm kick off on Saturday
