# Operatic stars join Staffordshire singers for Lichfield Cathedral performance

National operatic stars will be joining singers from all over Staffordshire in a special performance of Handel’s Messiah at Lichfield Cathedral.

The performance on March 26 marks the end of Staffordshire Youth Choir and Staffordshire County Chorus’ 40th anniversary year, and is also 11 years on from their memorable production the work to honour the millennium.

Harriet Hunter and Helena Raeburn, soprano, Deborah Miles-Johnson, contralto, Andrew Mackenzie-Wicks, Tenor and Michael Bundy bass, will be guest soloists with Staffordshire County Chorus, Staffordshire Youth Choir and Staffordshire High Schools Choir in a stirring performance of one of Handel’s most famous works.

Head of Staffordshire Performing Arts, Nigel M Taylor, will be conducting the Staffordshire Symphony Orchestra on the evening. He said:

> “This very special performance marks the end of year long celebrations for the Staffordshire Youth Choir and Staffordshire County Chorus. We are very fortunate to be able to attract such renowned musicians to join with us in the celebration.”

The concert takes place on March 26 at 7.30pm at Lichfield Cathedral. Tickets are £15 and are available by calling 01785 278284.
