# Organisers hail success of Christmas event in Chasetown

Organisers of a Christmas event in Burntwood have hailed it as a success.

Around 1,000 people attended the lights switch-on in Chasetown.

The event included are fairground rides and a craft market, as well as mulled wine and mince pies being served up.

The festive fun was organised by a group of local businesses and organisations, including Cameron Homes, Chasetown Civil Engineering, The Bakery and Haywoods Blinds.

Charmaine Sweeney, from High Street-based Cameron Homes, said:

> “The evening was a big success and very well attended by around 1,000 local people and visitors.

> “There was a fabulous community spirit on the night, with everyone enjoying themselves.

> “This was the first time this has happened and we were delighted with the way the High Street was transformed into a Christmas scene, with Santa and his elves making an appearance.”

Entertainment on the evening was provided by Jason Jones from BBC’s The Voice, a choir from St Joseph and St Teresa RC Primary School, as well as local bands from Erasmus Darwin Academy and the local scout group. 

Charmaine added:

> “We met every week for six months to pull this evening together and it was reminiscent of the sort of Christmas fun Chasetown saw 20 years ago.”
