# Parents thank friends of man killed crossing the A38 near Lichfield

The parents of a man killed on the A38 near Lichfield have thanked his friends for giving their son a “lovely” send off.

Rich Hall died as he crossed the carriageway to his home near Alrewas [in August](//lichfieldlive.co.uk/2009/08/17/family-pay-tribute-to-man-killed-crossing-the-a38-near-lichfield/).

Friends and family of the popular 21-year-old said their final farewells to him in an [emotional service](//lichfieldlive.co.uk/2009/08/19/floral-tribute-planned-for-funeral-of-man-killed-on-the-a38-near-lichfield/) at Alrewas All Saints Church on August 25.

And his parents have now thanked his friends for giving their son a fitting send off and donating towards a permanent memorial. A family spokesperson said:

> “Rich’s mum and dad want to say thank you to everyone who attended the funeral. It was a lovely send off. And they also want to say a big thanks to those who donated towards Rich’s memorial bench and tree. The making of the bench will now be started and will hopefully be ready soon.
