FIRE chiefs say they are asking people to “urgently” check their tumble dryers after a safety notice was issued.

The integrated heat pump models manufactured by Haier have been flagged, affecting brands such as:

- Baumatic
- Candy
- Caple
- Haier
- Hoover
- Iberna
- Lamona
- Montpellier

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said:

> “We’re urgently asking people to check their tumble dryers following recent safety notices.

> “If you have an integrated heat pump tumble dryer manufactured by Haier, we’re urging you to stop using the appliance immediately following concerns over fire risks with the internal short circuit.

> “If you have one, stop using it and unplug it from the socket. Check the model and serial number online and contact the manufacturer to arrange a repair.  
>  
> “Haier has resumed its corrective action programme after updating the modification. Repairs are now being arranged for the remaining 85,000 affected machines.”
