PLANS to convert an Armitage house into a children’s home have been rejected.

The development had been proposed for the property at 73 New Road.

It had been planned for the building to accommodate three children aged between eight and 18 on a long-term basis, as well as staff to support them.

But planning chiefs at Lichfield District Council refused the proposal over concerns around parking and the change of use.

A decision notice said:

> “The applicant has failed to supply sufficient information to demonstrate how the access, sufficient parking and cycle parking can be achieved in accordance with the parking provision requirements for the proposed use, and how this use, neighbouring dwellings and the Post Office would operate together in terms of parking and servicing.
>
> “The proposed change of use to a residential institution – children’s home – within a residential setting would introduce a level and nature of activity that is materially different from the surrounding residential uses.
>
> “This is due to concerns noise from residents and occupiers, increased comings and goings of staff, visitors and service providers, which would potentially result in significant noise and disruption.”
