# Plan to build homes on land behind Lichfield pub are thrown out

Land at the rear of a Lichfield pub will not be converted into housing after planning bosses rejected a proposal.

Eight new homes were planned for the area behind The Greyhound Inn on Upper St John Street.

The developers had said the site was in an ideal location for new housing.

But planners at Lichfield District Council disagreed, saying the location would not be appropriate.

“The development would have a detrimental impact on highway safety due to the position of the access on a busy road and inadequate on-site parking to serve the development,” a decision notice on the application said.

“The Local Planning Authority sought amendments to the application to overcome concerns. However these amendments were not considered sufficient to outweigh the harm that would result as a consequence of the development.”
