Burntwood is set to get a new McDonald’s restaurant after plans were approved.

The drive-thru will occupy the site where Kwik Save and Tesco once operated.

There had been [local opposition to the scheme](//lichfieldlive.co.uk/2015/05/28/residents-concerned-by-plan-for-new-mcdonalds-in-burntwood/) amid fears of anti-social behaviour and noise, although local Conservative councillor Helen Fisher [said she hoped the new restaurant would spark a boom in Burntwood](//lichfieldlive.co.uk/2015/05/27/councillor-hopes-mcdonalds-will-spark-burntwood-business-boom/).

“I hope they’ll be one of the first of many new businesses to come to Burntwood,” she said.

The new restaurant is expected to provide more than 65 full and part-time jobs.
