Plans have been submitted for a new 112 bed care home in Lichfield.

Should the three-storey development get the go ahead, it would be situated on land next to Samuel Johnson Community Hospital on Trent Valley Road.

The company behind the scheme – Restful Homes Developments Ltd – have submitted their plans to Lichfield District Council.

The documentation outlining the scheme states:

> “The proposed care home has been designed to meet the needs of residents who are dependent on full time care and whose mobility and capacity for recreational activities is severely limited.
>
> “Residents may not suffer from illnesses or infirmities that require them to be in hospital. Nevertheless they are generally very frail and vulnerable.”

But the developers must convince Lichfield District Council planning chiefs who have already rejected one such proposal on the site in January.

A previous application in 2007 was withdrawn after concerns were raised about the plans.

The [documentation](http://www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/downloads/Planning%5FStatement%5F114%5F.pdf?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) for the current application states:

> “The planning application under consideration is significantly different to the one that was refused in January. However, it retains all of the positive aspects of that application.”

Residents can have their say on the proposals on Lichfield District Council’s [planning website](http://www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/site/scripts/planning%5Fdetails.php?id=16558&ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk).
