# Plans submitted for new indoor padel and pickleball centre in Burntwood

PLANS have been formally submitted for a new indoor padel and pickleball centre in Burntwood.

LCP Properties is hoping to convert an industrial unit at Burntwood Business Park.

The company has [previously confirmed a desire to bring operator Padel + Play to the town](https://lichfieldlive.co.uk/plans-for-indoor-padel-and-pickelball-courts-in-burntwood/) – and has now submitted a formal planning application to Lichfield District Council.

The new facility would provide around 12 new jobs and feature seven padel and four pickleball courts, along with a cafe space and changing rooms.

LCP’s industrial director, Nick Bryson, said the new facility would help secure the long-term usage of the building.

> “LCP owns 800,000 sq ft of industrial space on Burntwood Business Park. While the overall occupancy rate is high, in recent years we have seen a decline in the traditional industrial sector.

> “We have therefore diversified the tenant base across the estate with the introduction of occupiers in other sectors, such as children’s soft play, a mixed martial arts academy and a trampoline and gymnastics club.

> “This building has been marketed since Septembr 2025 when the current occupier informed us they would not be renewing the lease which expires in June. During marketing, we have received multiple enquiries for padel.

> “Padel is the fastest growing sport in the UK and we received enquiries from ten different operators, demonstrating the demand in this location.”

Mr Bryson said that the site was ideal for use to facilitate the sporting activity.

> “Padel operators are limited on locations due to the requirement for a clear floor plate to fit the courts and a minimum ceiling height. This often means that traditional industrial units are the only options available.

> “A market search for available property of a similar size within 20 miles of the site found only one location in Wolverhampton with consented leisure use available, but the building is not suitable for padel.

> “A widened search for Staffordshire yielded no further available property.”
